Oregon vs. Utah: No. 13 Ducks open as field goal favorites over No. 10 Utah

There’s going to be a lot of emotion for the Oregon Ducks in this game against the Utah Utes.

Not only do Oregon players have a pair of excruciating losses to close the 2021 season on their minds, but they will also be looking to bounce back from the upset loss to Washington on Saturday that knocked them out of the College Football Playoff picture.

To say that the Ducks are going to be out for blood and vengeance is an understatement.

We’re going to have an insanely entertaining matchup on our hands, with the No. 10 Utah Utes coming to Autzen Stadium to face the No. 13 Ducks. While neither team is still in the hunt for the CFP, a potential spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game is on the line. Should Oregon win out, they’re in. Should Utah win out, they’re in.

It’s safe to say that this game matters quite a bit.

Though Utah comes into the game with a higher ranking, the Ducks are getting some favoritism at home according to the betting lines.

The Line

This line between Oregon and Utah shows that sportsbooks view these two teams on relatively equal ground. In football, home-field advantage usually counts for about three points, so on a neutral field, it seems like this game would almost be a pick-em. Here’s where the line opened on Sunday.

Way-Too-Early Predictions

For the entire 2022 season, this may be the hardest game to predict. It feels like there are a million different things that can happen. Does Oregon come out with a ton to prove, looking to right the ship after their upset loss to Washington? Are they instead playing a little bit flat after seeing their CFP hopes go down the drain and watching their QB Bo Nix get banged up over the weekend? How much does the pair of results for last year matter?

At this point in the season, it’s impossible to tell. At this point, I refuse to put any money on the game until I learn more about Oregon’s headspace and the status of Nix.
