Oregon Ducks begin the season at No. 21 in the Associated Press men's basketball top 25


In three weeks, Oregon will open its men’s basketball seasons ranked No. 21 the Associated Press top-25 preseason pollMonday’s release of the book was titled “The Secret Life of the American Dream”.

Dana Altman’s Ducks won’t be slow to test that ranking and maybe climb higher.

Oregon’s season starts Nov. 7 at home against Florida A&M but will follow over the next four weeks with games against two teams ahead of it in the poll — and possibly more.

It could be a weekend that changes your expectations in Portland.

The Phil Knight Invitational will feature the Ducks, an eight-team tournament that begins on Thanksgiving Day at Moda Center and Portland Coliseum.

UConn plays Oregon in the opening round. 20 Alabama and Michigan State are also included in the bracket’s other half. The bracket’s other half includes the No. 1 North Carolina, No. 16 Villanova, Iowa State, and Portland

No. 17 Arizona is the other Pac-12 team listed in the AP preseason rankings. This includes a top five Tar Heels and No. 2 Gonzaga, No. 4 Kentucky and No. 5 Kansas.
