Wildfire close to Larch Mountain burns 70 acres Sunday evening



Crews first responded to the hearth at 4:37 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Now named the Nakia Creek Fireplace, the wildfire is burning in grass and brush. 

Air sources might be assigned to the hearth within the morning, the DNR stated.  

A spokesman with East County Fireplace & Rescue described the hearth as “very distant and really rural.” No evacuations are deliberate right now, he stated.

Nonetheless, the mountaintop wildfire could be very seen. Flames have been reported to KGW by individuals in east Vancouver, Camas, Washougal, Gresham, Troutdale, and even atop the hills in Southwest Portland.
