WASHINGTON — Actor and WWE star John Cena has set a new record for most wishes granted through the non-profit organization Make-A-Wish. Cena has granted 650 wishes for children with critical illness.

Make-A-Wish grants wishes to children between the ages of 2 and 18. These children are usually children who have been diagnosed by critical illnesses.
Cena is the only person who has granted more than 200 wishes to Make-A-Wish over its 42 year history. Cena (45) started his career with Make-A-Wish in 2002. Ten years later, he granted Make-A-Wish the 1000th wish.
Cena reached 500 wishes in 2015 when he visited Rocco, a Queens boy who had been diagnosed as having leukemia.
“I just drop everything,” Cena said in a 2015 Associated Press article. “If I can offer a fantastic experience, I’ll be first in line to do my part.”
Cena often appears with one his championship belts. This can be anything from his 13 WWE Championships or his three World Heavyweight Championship titles. According to the report, children spend the day with Cena, taking photos, and sometimes even getting him behind the ring ropes. Guinness World Records website.
“I want them to have an experience that will stay with them to forever,” Cena said in 2015. “I don’t ever want the children or their families to be treated in a way where they feel as if they’re up against anything at all.”
