Vote for Statesman Journal Athlete-of-the Week

There are many Mid-Valley athletes who give big-time performances as we get closer to the end the first month in the fall sports seasons. 

Here are this week’s nominees for Statesman Journal Athlete of the Week. 

  • Jackson Pfeifer, Silverton football
  • Sarah Jones, Sprague volleyball 
  • Nelida Dalgas, North Salem cross country
  • Tini Tinitali, South Salem football

Below is information about each nominee. Vote to the nominee you feel is the most worthy. The poll will close at noon on Thursday. 

Jackson Pfeifer, Silverton football: For the Foxes against Central, he rushed for 240 yards with six touchdowns.

Sarah Jones, Sprague volleyball: She was able to score seven aces, nine assists, and 37 digs in the recent Sprague tournament. She had strong performances against South Salem, North Salem, and West Salem (two Aces, six assists, 13 Digs), as well as North Salem (five Acces, nine Digs) and West Salem (15 digs, two aces).

Nelida Dalgas, North Salem.

Nelida Dalgas, North Salem: The Ash Creek XC Festival was held on September 10. At the moment, she is ranked second in Central Valley Conference. 

South Salem's Tini Tinitali III (1) hypes up his teammates before the game against Grants Pass on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022 in Salem, Ore.

Tini Tinitali III, South Salem football: He was able to intercept two passes and make six tackles on defense. Four catches totaling 54 yards and a touchdown were also made by him for the Saxons against Grants pass.
